U.S. marked Colt Model 1902 Philippine Constabulary Double Action Revolver, #47740, .45 Colt CF cal., 6'' round barrel with right-side ejector marked with maker's name and Hartford address in one line on top, ''45 Colt'' at left, tiny ''K'' and ''P'' at bottom; long-fluted 6-shot round cylinder marked ''7740'', ''R.A.C.'' (military sub-inspector Rinaldo A. Carr) and ''P'' on rear face; solid frame marked ''U.S.'' at right-bottom, ''1902'' at right-rear, has long topstrap sighting groove, front-removable cylinder pin, right-side hinged loading gate numbered ''7740'', separate large-loop trigger guard marked ''R.A.C.'' at left-front web, integral ''bird's head'' gripstraps with lanyard swivel and ser. no. at butt, two-piece checkered black hard rubber grips having the Rampant Colt logo in an oval relief panel at top. Mfg'd ca. 1902, in full-blued finish with fire-blued hammer (having polished sides) and trigger. Factory letter confirms all features, shipped to Springfield Armory, No. 26, 1902, in a shipment of 100 guns. Condition is very good retaining approx. 20% original deep Colt blue, mainly in protected areas of barrel and frame, 60% blue to cylinder, and showing scattered light-to-medium pitting, mainly frame sides and backstrap, much bright fire-blue to hammer and trigger. Grips are sound and without cracks or chips showing only light checkering/detail wear. Action is strong and smooth; bore is brilliant showing a bit of minor frosting at breech and sharp rifling.
