Colt Model of 1911 U.S. Army Semi-Automatic Pistol, #177407, .45 ACP cal., 5" barrel, blued finish, slide marked with Colt address, patent dates, and rampant colt logo, other side marked "Model of 1911...", with the U.S. Army marking ground off. Frame has had the "U.S. Government Property" stamping ground off. Small round "GHS" Army inspector's stamp on left side of frame. Frame and slide have different finishes, the frame looks like partial original bluing, the slide has had the finish removed or was lightly parkerized. Fixed thin blade front sight and drift adjustable rear sight with small "u" notch, grip safety, smooth mainspring housing, lanyard loop, unmarked blued steel barrel with polished chamber area, checkered wood grips with large diamonds around the grip screws, and one modern replacement blued steel magazine. Condition is good, the slide having a light brown color to the metal, with edgewear on the front, high edges of the sides, tops of the sights, wear on sides and slide serrations, and lines from firing on the lower front. Frame shows a cold blue touchup where the property marking was removed, some remnants of original bluing mostly around the area of the grips, heavy wear to the front grip strap, a mostly brown patina to the trigger guard and front of the frame, thinning and wear to the mainspring housing and grip safety. Small parts retain some of their bright blued original finish but are showing wear and age from use. Action and safeties function properly, but the hold open feature does not work with the current magazine; bore is lightly frosted with light leading and may improve with a good cleaning. Grips show soiling, wear, heavy flattening to the diamonds, light scratches, and minor gouges. Grip screws show wear and have slightly marred slots. Magazine shows wear lines from use to the blued finish. Lanyard loop is slightly bent forward. Est.: $1,000-$1,400. (C&R/PPT)
