Revolver, Double-action. 6-rd capacity. New York Police marked gun. Manufactured 1896 to 1907. The Colt New Police was selected NYC Police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt in 1896 to be the 1st standard issue revolver for officers. This revolver was manufactured in 1897. Chambered in the .32 New Police. 4" barrel, with round front sight blade, and sighting groove on topstrap. Exposed ejector rod. Blued metal finish. Black, checkered "Colt" hard rubber grips. "Colt New police.32" on the left side of barrel. 2-line Colt address, and Patent dates on the top of barrel. "Colt;s New Police, with Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame. Backstrap etched "New York Police. Butt stamped 226 . Blued metal finish is about 60%, with most loss on the cylinder, upper barrel, backstrap and fore strap. Action is crisp/tight. Bore is good , with some small patches of rust. Cylinder chambers are good, but dirty. Grips are very good with a few small scuffs. NRA Condition-very good. Antique Firearm.
