Colt SAA Revolver in .44-40 caliber with a 7 barrel, blue and case colored finish, and hard rubber grips, S/N 170789 made in 1897. This revolver remains in very good plus original condition with 50%-70% original blue and case colors evenly aging and going to light natural patina where finish has drifted. Good roll die marked Colt Frontier Six Shooter” barrel marking and other marks also sharp. Matching numbers. The grips fit impeccably and show slight wear to the checkering but good plus to very good overall. The front sight is its full height with all the blue and correct hammer shows most of the case colors still very colorful. Good mechanically with bright bore. A pleasing Pre-98 Colt that rates a solid 7.5-8 on a 1-10 scale and very desirable. Factory letter states .44/40 caliber, 7 ½” barrel, blue finish, rubber stocks, shipped to: Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis, Missouri, July 1, 1897, 2 guns in shipment. (Antique) Est.: $3000-$6000
