'Peacemaker', a vintage Colt Single-Action Army chambered in .38-40 Winchester, and manufactured in Hartford, CT. This is a 1st Generation revolver manufactured in 1900, and the First Generation Colts were made until 1940. 1896-1899 was considered the 'blackpowder transition' period, and this revolver falls at the end of the early smokeless powder era before other changes were made to accommodate the smokeless powder changes. This revolver features a blue refinish, a 4-3/4" round barrel, fixed blade front sight, notched frame rear sight, smooth curved thin trigger, external hammer with a checkered spur, smooth grip straps, two-piece white plastic bull's head grips, collard cylinder pin head, bird's head style ejector rod button, and a six round fluted cylinder (First Generation). There is a two-line Colt address on top of the barrel. ".38 W.C.F." is stamped on left side of barrel, and a two-line stamping displays the patent dates on the left side of the frame. Frame, trigger guard, and grip heel have matching serial numbers '77467'. Some of the markings are shallow, and are difficult to read. The refinished bluing retained is approximately 95% with edge wear, light scratches, and minor handling wear. Metal displays no deformation, and no observed rust. The action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up, and the bore is frosty with strong rifling. The bull's head grips are in excellent condition, but do not fit the frame correctly leaving a gap at the frame behind the trigger.
Condition is NRA Very Good.
