'Peacemaker', a vintage Colt Single-Action Army chambered in .38 Special, and manufactured in Hartford, CT. This is a 1st Generation revolver manufactured in 1882, and the First Generation Colts were made until 1940. This revolver features a blue refinish, a 5-1/2" round barrel (Second Generation), fixed blade front sight, notched frame rear sight, smooth curved thin trigger, re-contoured external hammer with a smoothed out spur, smooth grip straps, black checkered hard rubber grips with 'Rampant Colt' motifs (not time period correct), collard cylinder pin head, bird's head style ejector rod button, and a six round fluted cylinder (Second Generation). There is a one-line Colt address on the right side of the barrel. "COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .38 SPECIAL" is stamped on left side of barrel, and a three-line stamping displays the patent dates on the left side of the frame. Frame, trigger guard, and grip heel have matching serial numbers '77467'. Some of the markings are shallow, and are difficult to read. The refinished bluing retained is approximately 92% with edge wear, light scratches, and some brown patina showing on the top of the frame. Metal displays deformation in some of the screw slots, and a couple of areas of light pin-prick pitting. The action is smooth and crisp with a tight lock-up, and the bore is bright with strong rifling. The hard rubber grips are in excellent condition. This revolver came with a tag that reads, "from the estate of Sammy Davis Jr".
Condition is NRA Good to Very Good.
