Revolver. Single-Action. 6-rd capacity. 1st Generation manufactured 1877. 4th year of production. 5.5" barrel with front blade and v-notch rear sights. Top of barrel stamped "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." Patent dates are visible on the left frame, but are a bit faded. "45 Cal" stamped on left triggerguard. The serial number matches on the frame, triggerguard, and backstrap, but the number on the backstrap is very feint/worn. A "9", and "1" are visible on the cylinder but feint. There is no finish left, and the revolver is "In the white" with a gray patina. The cylinder pin appears to be a later replacement. Bore is good with strong rifling, but small traces of pitting are present. Cylinders appears good. Action is crisp, and hammer locks up tight. The Ivory grips are good with a little shrinkage. They have a nice yellow patina. The right grip has been inletted for something which is no longer there. about 3/4" . Grips appear to have been on the pistol a very long time. A early, well used, but not abused SAA. NRA Condition-Good Plus. Antique Firearm.
