Colt Single Action Army .45 LC SN: 80476
Early production, manufactured circa 1882. Features nickeled finish (appears to be a period refinish), 7.5” barrel with single line address, blade front sight, square notched rear sight, fluted cylinder, ejector rod, retaining screw for base pin, smooth thin trigger, hammer with knurled spur, and single piece ivory grip. Bore is good condition, dark grooves and ring of small pits near muzzle, sharp rifling. Charge holes are very good condition with some observed small spots of fouling. Nickel finish is fair to good condition overall, dulled and a bit cloudy, peeling in a few places like cylinder flutes and around frame screws, nicks and scratches throughout. Barrel has row of pits or impact marks over part of address line. Several areas show small area of pitting under the nickel finish. Cylinder pin and several screws are blued. Ivory grip is yellowed to a light caramel color with streaks of white, many cracks, slight shrinkage from frame. Patent dates on left side of frame are deep with some partial loss of some letters. Marked "45 CAL" at triggerguard. Serial number repeated on triggerguard & backstrap. Action is smooth with tight lock-up. Backstrap fit is fair, appears to have been struck so that left top backstrap screw hole is slightly damaged with small raised area visible on side. Condition is NRA Good++ (old refinish) *** Antique Firearm ***
