Colt Single Action Army 'Scout Gun' .45 LC #13517
Colt Single Action Army U.S. martially inspected Cavalry revolver, inspected by Ainsworth with research indicating ownership by the "Boy Chief". Serial #13517 with traces of old period nickel plate, some pitting and erosion, wood grips showing large ship and losses with even frontier wear and use. Matching visible numbers, correct small parts and screws. Grips undersized greatly from wear, sanding or replacement. A research folder (included) notes sale of Arikana Scouts 1873 single action revolvers and lists 13517, this revolver, as Boy Chief (Black Calf). Also lists, sale of 115 revolvers by Hartley and Graham. The aforementioned list does not document the original source, though this revolver by serial number is known as the Boy Chief Colt S.A. from a prominent western history collection.
