U.S. Military large frame double-action service revolver chambered in .45 Automatic, manufactured in Hartford, CT circa 1918. Features a blued refinish, 5.5" round tapered barrel, blade front sight, "u" notched rear sight, fluted six-shot swing-out cylinder, non-shrouded ejector rod, smooth trigger, checkered hammer spur, steel frame with lanyard ring on the butt, and smooth walnut grips. Markings: Frame - partial “GHS” monogram inside a circle, “U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1917" & "No/3/346". Barrel - "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", “5701”, "COLT'S PT FA. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT U.S.A./PATD AUG 5.1884 JUNE 5 1900 JULY 4 1905" & "COLT D.A.45". Revolver retains approximately 40% of its old reblued finish showing holster wear, thinning and a small amount of emerging surface rust. Action is sound with a tight lock-up, the bore appears excellent but dirty, the markings are fair and the wood grips are good with numerous blemishes.
