Antique U.S. military contact single action revolver chambered in .45 Colt, circa 1885. Features a blued finish, 5 1/2" barrel with single line address, blade front sight, 'v' notched rear sight, black powder frame stamped U.S., case hardened hammered with bordered knurling & a single line underneath, ejector rod, fluted six-shot cylinder and one-piece smooth walnut grips. Includes a factory letter which states is was sold to "United States Government", delivered to "U.S. Government Inspector at Colt plant" and shipped on December 3, 1885 in a 150 gun shipment. Markings: Barrel - "P", "D.F.C." and single line address. Frame - "116532", "D.F.C.", "U.S." and black powder dates. Cylinder - "P", "H.N." and "8646". Trigger guard - "49465" & "H.N." Backstrap - "7925". Revolver exhibits approximately 40% of it's old blued refinish with the majority of the finish intact on the frame, considerable bluing on the barrel in the protected areas, scattered bluing found on the cylinder and the grip straps in-the-white. The action is sound with four clicks, bore is shiny with good rifling & a small amount of minor rust, and wood grips are good as worn with rounded edges at the bottom & no visible markings.
