Pistol. Semi-Automatic. 10-rd magazine. C.C.C. presentation pistol. Manufactured 1935. Pre-War first series (1915-1941) Browning designed. 6 5/8" barrel with blade/notch fixed sights. Blue with checkered walnut grips. Standard Colt markings. Right side of slide is engraved "Presented to Capt. B.A. Johnson by Co. 963 C.C.C. April 1935". Possibly factory done. Worthy of further research with Colt, and the National Archives. The Civilian Conservation Corps was a Para-Military organization, and Capt. Johnson was director on Camp 963, located on the South side of cape Perpetua just North of Cape Creek on Oregon's remote central coast. Bore appears very good/bright. Slide action is smooth/tight. Grips are very good. blue finish is about 85% with minor scratches/edge/wear. some handling loss to the fore strap, and some very minor spots of surface rust/pitting. Nothing serious. Comes with two correct 10-rd magazines marked "Colt's Woodsman, .22 L.R." Magazines are two-toned. A piece of U.S. History. NRA Condition-Near very Good. C&R firearm.
