Cal.40mm. S# 3419. Overall length 37.75". The original weapons resembling what we know today as an RPG, started at the end of WWII. At that time, “RPG” stood for Ruchnoi Protivotankoviyi Granatomyot – Hand Antitank Grenade Launcher with a clear lineiage w/ the German Panzerschreck rocket launcher and the Panzerfaust. This first Russian evolution, the RPG 1, utilized the simple launch tube of the Panzerfaust’s and employed a black powder propelling charge that w/ a very low muzzle velocity. It was never manufactured in high numbers. The first variation to see a large production effort was the RPG 2 which was introduced in the late 1940s to early 1950s. It utilized the same straight tube recoilless launch system, resembling the Panzerfaust 150 & was similar in performance to other systems of the time, such as the US "Bazooka" and the British "PIAT". The RPG-2 was heavily used in & around the Viet Nam war. It was an important evolution in the constant balance between the capability of available armor, and systems designed to defeat it. Simple pop up sights. Rounded wood hand guards. Soviet markings on the trigger housing include arrow in circle arsenal & “56-r-660 / NoM 3419”. A hole has been bored in the tube in front of the trigger housing & a steel bar welded inside the tube, obstructing it, just rear of the hole. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: Black nylon TacForce case.
