DENNY'S GUNS NEW MODEL AUTO & BURGLER SBS.

Cal. 20ga. S# B7636. Bbl.9.25". From 1921 to 1925 Ithaca manufactured a very short version of their standard 20ga. double barreled shotgun that would become known as the "Auto & Burgler". They made around 2500 of their "Model A" which chambered 2.5" shells in that time frame. In 1925 they upgraded it to the "New Improved Double" (NID) shotgun, which could chamber 2.75" shells, which became known as their "Model B". While the Model A had 10" barrels, the Model B utilized 12.2" barrels. They also redesigned the pistol grip and boasted approximately 1500 in this new configuration. Eventually, due to the very low number of these, they became very expensive, and with that, more desirable. In the late 1990's Denny's Guns started manufacturing them again, this time using the Italian Tristar Model 411 as the base gun. These were also manufactured in very limited numbers and remain rare and desirable today. The example here was built on a beautiful case-colored receiver and boasts barrels just over 9" in length. It is also chambered in 20ga., utilizing a vent rib w/ a gold bead sight. The barrels are bright blued and it has warm brown hardwood furniture & double gold triggers. While many were registered as AOW's (Any Other Weapon) this particular example is classified as a SBS (Short Barreled Shotgun). CONDITION: As typical with these, there is very little evidence of use. Both sides of the receiver are engraved "NEW MODEL AUTO & BURGLER GUN". There is a light amount of scuffing on the right side of the receiver over the engraving visible under close inspection. Barrels are shiny. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT SBS REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1581/JZ). MODERN CLASS III. $400-600.
