DESIRABLE 19TH C PLAINS CHEYENNE TEPEE BAG.

Teepee bags were essentially a carryall device handmade by the Indians usually of buffalo or deer hide. This example, 11-1/2” h x approx.. 17-1/2” w, w/ blocked geometric design having white, bonny trader blue, cranberry red, greasy, green, sinew sewn beads w/ red yarn fringe. The bag has a couple of tin ornamental dangle cones & retains its original rawhide lace ties. CONDITION: some scattered staining w/ darkened patina from age. The bag is still rather supple. Flap has a couple of tears. This is 19th century, so the bag was entirely handmade & sinew sewn. (02-15944). $1,000-2,000.
