For those who would like a quality version of the MP-38, the benchmark is as it is worldwide, Dittrich. This MP-38-C was mfg. in Germany by SSD & important by I.O. Inc, in Monroe, NC in sm. numbers. Classified as a pistol w/ closed bolt operating system, its overall length of 25" w/ a folding stock mechanism that has been disabled by use of a pin survives for aesthetics only. The quality is top notch from finish on exposed metal areas, which include numerous waffenamt to the flawless receiver & sights. It has a spot-welded thread protector at the muzzle, protected blade front sight & two leaf flip up rear sight for elevation changes. Right side swing swivel at bbl. nut. Left side non-reciprocating charging handle. Bakelite grips & receiver. Markings on left side of bbl. include "7A1 WAFFENAMP 280" & "0529". Markings on bbl. nut, sling swivel, front trunnion include a Waffenamt w/ "280" factory code & variations of the serial number, either "0529" or "29" which is common w/ German fire arms. Mag. well left side markings include a waffenamt w/ "280" factory code & "29", appearing that the "9" has been double struck. On rear of receiver, "0529" & a waffenamt w/ "280" factory code, "MP 38-C ayf 41" circular Dittrich logo, right side receiver "MADE IN GERMANY BY SSD FOR I.O. INC, MONROE, NC/USA". Right side mag. release waffenamt "280" factory code & number "29". Right side of bbl. "9mm Luger", "DE" & Dittrich circular logo. Composite resting bar under bbl. w/ waffenamt "280" mark. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: original shipping box from I.O. Inc.; original BATF determination paperwork. MAGAZINE: 1 32 rd. mag. ribbed marked "kur", "42", two waffenamt stamps w/ the code "WaA15".
