EDDYSTONE BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 30-06. S# 257534. Bbl. 26" marked behind front sight "E" flaming bomb "4-18". Ladder rear sight graduated to 1600 yards. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. This rifle is unusual in that it bears the boxed "O.G.E.K." Elmer Keith inspection stamp on the right side of the grip w/ an inverted orientation. The rifle also bears the unboxed "OGEK" stamp of Ed Klouser below the bolt release on the left side of the stock; also w/ an inverted orientation. Both of these men worked at Ogden Arsenal in Utah during WWII. These inspections may be simple tests & check & that the rifle required little if any in the way of corrections. The markings on the stock including the eagle head acceptance mark in front of the trigger guard are crisp & legible. The receiver is marked on the left rail w/ the flaming bomb & all visible parts' markings are "E" for Eddystone. Bolt is marked w/ 2 flaming bombs on top of handle. One is notably larger & more distinct. Walnut stock set. Forend tip has faint "E" marking. Smooth trap buttplate. CONDITION: stock set has original finish w/ the expected wear, scratches & handling marks from extended service while retaining a good appearance. Metal retains 60% original blue, turning gray & patina w/ wear & scattered handling marks. Bore is turning dark w/ strong, sharp lands. PROVENANCE: The Collection of Gun Sport Ltd owned by Jon R.
