BOXLOCK EJECTOR SXS GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 11572. Bbls. 28" dovetailed, engraved "Charles Daly Diamond Quality" on unmatted portion of narrow game rib. Rear portions of bbls. engraved w/ 1 1/2" triangles of well cut scroll. Fancy "Roechlings Steel" logos are also present. Bbl. flats stamped w/ German Nitro proofs for 12 bore w/ a proof date of Dec. 1924. Case hardened dbl. arched backed boxlock action features non automatic safety, pinned cocking indicators, hidden square crossbolt third fastener, side clips & unmarked SST (probably Miller) w/ selector combined w/ safety. These guns were normally made w/ intercepting sears, but w/ out disassembly, is not known whether these were retained w/ installation of new trigger. Water table marked "PRUSSIA". Action engraved w/ near full coverage exceptionally well cut & nicely shaded varying sized scroll. "CHARLES DALY" is on each side. Floorplate engraved w/ matching scroll that surrounds a finely detailed scene of pointing pointer in open meadow w/ ferns & lg. trees in background. This dog appears to be pointing a covey of quail on ground which are engraved on trigger guard bow. The quality of this engraving is truly exceptional. S# is on trigger guard tang. Lightly marbled & figured dark European walnut rnd. knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 1/4" over brown leather covered pad. Side panels are checkered & have nicely shaped drop points. Closely spaced point pattern checkering is at grip. Ball of grip has inlet oval horn decoration. A vacant silver oval is on toe. Matching splinter ejector forend w/ Deeley release has newly made wood correctly shaped, checkered & has sm. schnabeled horn tip. MEASUREMENTS: BARRELS: bore diameter: right .723", left .724". Restriction: right .014" (Mod), left .035" (Full). Min. Wall Thickness: right .030", left .028", STOCKS: LOP: 14 1/4". DAC: 1 5/8". DAH: 3". No cast. WEIGHT: 6 lbs., 1 oz. CONDITION: very fine as partially restored. Bbls. retaining nearly all of best quality reblack. Action retains Approx. 70% original case hardening color, silvered on bottom & fences from normal hand wear. Buttstock retains nearly all of a hand rubbed oil refinish w/ a few minor subsequent marks. Checkering competently recut at grip & side panels. Forend wood is replaced, correctly done & retains nearly all of its finish. Metal parts have had light refinish w/ some thinning of engraving lightly recolored. There is a 3/4" x 1/2" dent in checkering of forend. Bores very fine w/ evidence of possible old dent removal on right bbl. about 15" back from muzzle, not visible on interior. Action is tight. Bbls. on face. Ejectors are in time, trigger appears to work well. (21-2541/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-4,000.
