RIFLE. Cal. 223. S# MR 02631. Bbl. 18". Mfg. IMI. One of the most popular long arms produced by IMI (Israeli Military Industries). The Galil came to life following the 1967 war when the Israeli army requested a lighter & more ergonomic rifle then the FAL. Since the Arab armies found great success utilizing the AK 47 its popular action was utilized as a basis for this new system. It was chambered in both 5.56x45 & later in 7.62x51. While it retains numerous similarities to the AK 47 there are also several additional features including a heavy wood forearm the hosts an integral bipod which doubles as a wire cutter, a muzzle break that functions as a grenade launching base, flip up luminous night sights, ambidextrous safety/selector, folding handle & a left side folding skeletal stock. Bayonet lug resides approx. 6" rear of the muzzle. Right side reciprocating charging handle utilized from the top. Black painted finish on all exposed metal surfaces aside from parkerized bbl. assembly. Black pistol grip. Hooded post front sight adjustable in elevation & dual aperture rear peep sight as well as flip up night sights. MAGS: 1-40 rd. steel. CONDITION: finish on all exposed metal parts is complete & consistent demonstrating only light usage w/ some thinning in areas of mechanical intervention. Stock locks tightly. Shiny bore w/ strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (22-294/JZ). MODERN. $2,500-3,500.
