1) This document measures 4 1/2" x 8" & is on blue lined paper. The document is titled, “Engineers Office AT Sept 28th 1864.”. The document is addressed, “Captain”. The document reads, “It is important that you should know the roads from your camp to Garrett’s Pumpkin Town Ferry – have them examined and if necessary repaired so that you can pass over the shortest and best road.” Document is signed, “Respectfully S.W Presstman Lt Col Actg Ch Engr”.
2) This document measures 4" x 8" & is on blue lined paper. The document is titled, “Head Quarters 3D Regt Eng T Moore’s Bridge Sept 28th 1864”. The document is addressed, “Capt A.W. Gloster Comdg Co C Eng T Capt”. The document reads, “Please send me at once by my wagon 10 good axes for the work here and oblige”. The document is signed, “Your Respectfully J.W. Green Maj Comdj”.

The document reads, “Your attention is called to the order below, just received from HQ. You will proceed to obey it at once.” The document is signed, “J W Green Maj Commd’g”. “COPY” “It is important that you should know the roads leading from your camp to Garret’s and Pumpkintown ferries, have them examine and if necessary repaired, so you can pass over the shortest and best road”. The document states, “Reserve 10 or 15 shovels - and 5 or 6 picks, for your own use - and send by the bearer (if your fortifications are complete) the remainder of the supply that you received last week.” The document is signed, “J.W. Green Maj. Commdg Eng Troops”.

The document orders Gloster to take his bridge after dark to Moore’s if the trestle bridge is not complete. It states a supply train will be at Moore’s Bridge tomorrow & must not be delayed. The document is signed, “S.W. Presstman Lt Col + Actg Ch Engr”.
6) This document measures 5" x 8" & is on gray paper. The document is titled, “Hd Qrs Engr Dept AT Oct 2 1864-”. The document is addressed, “Captain”. The document reads, “You will move your train to Moore’s Bridge, and be ready to lay down your boats if trestle bridge be washed away, in the absence of further orders you will report to Genl Goven”. The document is signed, “S.W. Presstman Lt Col + Actg Ch Engr”.

The document is addressed, “Captain”. The document reads, “You will, with as little delay as possible proceed with your train to Cave Spring and report to Major Genl Elsey for orders”. The document is signed, “By Command of Genl Hood S.W. Presstman Lt Col + Actg Ch Engr”. A further note below the order informs Gloster that Captain Duffy has 41 mules for his command with orders to turn them over at his first opportunity.
8) This document measures 8" x 8" & is on white lined paper. The document is titled, “Head Quarters Jacksonville Oct 18th 1864”. The document is addressed, “Capt Gloster in charge of pontoon train Kay’s Ferry Captain”. The document orders Gloster to pick up his pontoon bridge & load it on wagons & proceed to Edward’s Ferry & park them on the north side of the river. The document is signed, “Very respectfully your Obt Serv’t W M Palfrey AAdjt”. CONDITION: paper is generally in solid condition. There are no notable tears in the documents. Writing is generally clear & in a good hand. Most letters can easily be read. (02-15341-6/BF). $1,200-1,600.
