DOUBLE GUN CASE MADE FOR WESTLEY RICHARDS

PERCUSSION SHOTGUNS. An exceptional English trade gun case w/ interior label that reads "(British arms) WESTLEY RICHARDS, Gun Manufacturer to his Royal Highness PRINCE ALBERT. 170. New Bond Street, London.". Case measures 32 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 5 1/4". It has brass reinforced corners & sides. There is a circular brass folding handle in the lid along w/ a 1 3/8" circular escutcheon. Lid closes w/ 2 brass hook & peg devices on either side. Key escutcheon is certifiably antique elephant ivory. The interior of the box is lined w/ green felt w/ the gun stocks being housed in the top level & bbls. in the lower level. There are several other compartments where various equipment & tools can be stored. An exceptionally well made case & a true find for the owner of a pair of Westley Richards shotguns needing a case. Case is accompanied by a stand made expressly for this case that measures 33 1/2" x 10 7/8" & stands 13" high. Stand matches the case quite well but was likely made a few years after the case. CONDITION: outside of box shows various minor dents & scratches w/ a noticeable old 1/2" gouge to the left of the carrying handle however, overall the finish is rich & visually appealing. Interior lining shows wear & moth damage but is 95%+ complete. The stand has a rich mellow finish w/ a few scratches primarily on the top of the border supporting the case.
