DUTCH REVOLUTIONARY WAR ERA FLINTLOCK MUSKET.
Cal. 75. NSN. 53 1/2" Overall. Bbl. 39 1/4" rnd. w/ a lg. brass blade sight, forward of sight engraved “No. 109”. Ramrod is engraved “No. 119”. There are no other discernible markings other than sm. proof near bbl. breech. Brass mounted & described by George Neumann as infantry musket 1777-1798 w/ nearly identical features of caliber, length, arrowhead finial trigger guard, undulating design on buttplate tang w/ 2 screws, pinned bbl., raised stock rib parallel to the ramrod channel, lg. convex screwheads on rear of buttplate, straight flat lock w/ beveled edges & faceted pan & flat cock. Warren Moore in his text also shows a nearly identical gun (S-49) stating “type purchased from Holland by Benjamin Franklin for use by the American colonial troops in the Revolutionary War”. CONDITION: very good overall, appears original & complete, original flint, bbl. & lock have dark iron patina, brass has mixed olive/medium mustard patina. Stock is sound & solid, has well disguised sm. wood repair rear of bbl. tang & crack repair on right side of forestock toward muzzle. Mechanically functional w/ smooth pitted bore.
