'First Issue'. Imperial German Navy contact toggle-locked recoil operated semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, manufactured circa 1906-1908. Features a blued finish with straw colored small parts, 6" heavy tapered barrel, dovetailed serrated patridge front sight, two-position 100-200 meter rear sight, smooth crescent trigger, knurled charging knobs on the rear toggle link, manual safety of the left side of the frame with the factory alteration to fire in the forward position, the “GESICHERT” marking shows twice in both the upper & lower positions, (showing both markings, the Armorer failed to completely polish away the original text during the 1912 Imperial arsenal conversion), grip safety, knurled push button magazine release, 8 round magazine with wood base, (Unmarked) steel frame with lanyard loop & stock lug, and finely checkered wood grips. Matching serial numbers have been observed on the frame, barrel extension, rear toggle link, side plate, take-down lever, and grip safety. Other Markings: Receiver – German Navy "Crown over M" receiver proofs stamped twice. Front Toggle Link, Script “DWM”, crown proof on barrel, receiver and front toggle link. The backstrap marking "W.W." over "3080"stands for Werft Wilhelmshaven, indicating the pistol was issued to and property-marked by the Imperial German Navy dockyard at Wilhelmshaven on the North Sea coast. Pistol retains approximately 92% of its blued finish showing edge/holster wear, bright niter blue toggle pins, nice straw is about 50%. Action is crisp, the bore is excellent/bright and the wood grips are excellent.
