SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5437t. Bbl. 4". P.08 Luger originally mfg. at the Royal Arsenal Erfurt in 1918, this example was subsequently retained under the Treaty of Versailles and reworked for police use. The bbl. extension is marked "1920/ 1918" over the chamber, with Erfurt arsenal proofs on the right. Erfurt Crown/ RC (Revision Commission) proof is present on the front of the frame, left side of bbl. and right side of the bbl. extension. Front grip strap is police unit marked "S.Br.II. 67". Frame is cut for a Walther mag. safety, which is no longer present. Schiwy safety is present. Major metal components exhibit a reapplied blued finish, with some smaller components exhibiting a strawed finish. Frame is mounted with 2 piece checkered wood grips. All numbers are matching (including the mag. and grips), and appear to have been renumbered to match during the period. MAGS: 1 - 8 Rd. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their reapplied blue finish, exhibiting some areas of wear and scattered spots of surface oxidation overall. Strawed components exhibit areas of wear and thinning with spots of darker discoloration. Bore exhibits pitting and retains fair rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and some scattered nicks to the diamonds, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (23-5148/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
