DWM / MARTZ BABY LUGER SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.
Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 7866. Bbl. 3 1/8". Mfg. by John Martz using commercially proofed components including Navy Luger rear toggle assembly. All items matching commercially numbered 66 including very faintly marked extractor. Numerous crown N proofs; safety bar not numbered. Unable to determine exact model used to create this custom Luger due to low number w/out suffix & crown N proofs along w/ DWM toggle having Navy sight. Underside of rear toggle stamped JVM. Backs of figured walnut grips stamped "GKS". Items normally strawed are Niter blued as are grip screws, toggle pivots plus sear & mag. latch springs. Section of grip frame removed to create shortened "Baby" grip retaining stock lug. References indicate Martz Baby Lugers normally w/ 2 1/4", 21/2 " or 2 5/8" bbl. length; this unusual 3 1/8" bbl. configuration has uncharacteristic flat crown. Some Martz products are of known quantity; no quantity reference found for Baby Model. Very scarce Martz product w/ unusual bbl. length giving more pleasing profile than shorter versions plus almost unheard of Navy rear sight combined w/ commercial numbering & crown N proofs. MAGS: 2 very good extruded 7 rd. retaining eagle 37 proof at top left indicating originally fxo marked. Matte finishes appearing to be hard chrome. Aluminum bases w/ non standard profiles numbered 1 & 2 near front & 66 near spines; #1 w/ original button & follower, #2 w/ non checkered mfg. button & blued follower. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: very good light brown holster specifically mated to pistol's profile & bbl. length. Typical Luger spare mag. pouch on side plus tool pouch under flap w/ aluminum stud retention. Flap secured by strap & buckle. Angled dbl. belt loops on back w/ "70" above front loop & "GALE C. MORGAN" brand stamping at top between belt loops. Rear portion behind rear belt loop has script "G.C.M." over crown over "802". Luger tool w/ eagle "655" having smoothly machined back. Generic brown 2 piece box w/ white boxed label referencing this Baby Luger. CONDITION: extremely close scrutiny will show where front strap was altered but overall appearance is near excellent including bore & grips. (21-929/NW). MODERN. $2,000-3,000.
