AUTO PISTOL & HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 5599. Bbl. 4" w/ fin shaped sight, full S# & unusual mark below S# that resembles letter suffix but likely assembly mark also appearing just forward of recoil lug. Mfg. 1920 (over chamber) & often thought to be rework model as it has sear safety plus milled for mag. safety. Proofs unique to Military & Police models differentiate it; Eagle ArA4. Mfg. w/out suffix in S# (this one) & w/ a or b suffix. Front strap has Weimar Police marks reading up from bottom of: "S.D.I.174.R."; 'R' is over stamped w/ "X". Unnumbered replacement extractor; all other metal parts matching numbered including firing pin & rear toggle pivot. Receiver has 5599 on left front plus 68 on recoil lug. "*" over "P" on back of left grip; right not marked. Strawed sm. parts w/ balance blued. MAGS: Haenel stainless extruded 8 rd. w/ aluminum base retained by single pin at spine & marked "2" / "5599" / "*" / "S"; special mag., but normally would be tin plated w/ wood base. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: fair oxidized loading tool w/ lg. "0" then sm. ".3" on back; front has crown DF (?) proof. Good plus brown flap holster w/ buckle & strap retention. Spare mag. & loading tool pouches. Lift strap plus dbl. belt loops. Maker's name beginning Eh (rest not readable) plus eagle party symbol over WaA17. CONDITION: good appearance w/ peppery oxidation & typical high point holster wear. Only minimal traces of straw colors w/ staining. Even moderate hand wear to diamond tops of grips. Patina finish in grip area. Very good bright bore w/ minimal signs of use. PROVENANCE: Estate Collection of Jack Verret Sr. (22-867/NW). CURIO. $800-1,200.
