DWM NAVY REWORK LUGER SEMI-AUTO PISTOL.
Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 3938. Bbl. 4". Mfg. 1917 as Model 1914 Military & Navy reworked in 1920; no sear or mag. safety nor provision for either. Original model mfg. 1917; 90,000 units w/ S# 211 to 3575n. Backstrap marked w/ "M" over anchor symbol over "N870" (Nordsee pistol #870). Receiver has proof marks of original reworked pistol. Blued w/ strawed small parts plus appropriate internal areas in the white. 1920 over 1917 on chamber area w/ 9 of 1920 being double struck; 1920 also on back of frame above lanyard loop. Sm. parts have matching numbers (including rear toggle pivot) except replacement gas grooved firing pin w/crown letter proof; no S#. Checkered walnut gips w/ 38 on back of left; right is blank. MAGS: good tin plated 8 rd. w/ wood base in only fair condition having sm. chip at dimple plus light gouges by unreadable remainder of S# (definitely not matching). UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: fair black Navy marked (M over anchor) holster w/ 1915 date. Considerable restiching & replacement mismatched belt loops. Folded over tab of lift strap separated at its joining rivet. Flap retained by strap through loop to stud on top; damaged stiching at hinge. Loading tool pouch flap retained by brass snap rather than flap over stud. Back has "S" in triangle plus mostly visible writing of: "VERTINIGTE FABRIKANTEN / ???MILITARLEDERZEUGE / G.M.B.H. / SOLIGEN". CONDITION: good to very good as refinished having clear markings. Light to moderate holster like high point wear. Very minimal function wear. Light hand wear to grips w/ fit to frame of right especially good. Very good bright bore w/ distint rifling & occasional faint light frosting. (20-3243/NW). CURIO. $3,000-4,500.
