Unsigned Darne Halifax style sliding breech side-by-side double barrel shotgun chambered for 2 ½” 16 gauge shells, manufactured in France circa 1897-1930’s. Features blued 27.5” barrels with matted concave rib, brass bead front sight, automatic ejector, double triggers, rotary safety on the left side of the action, in-the-white finished breech block with light coverage floral scroll engraving, and checkered one-piece prince-of-whales grip walnut shoulder stock with sling swivel, serrated black buttplate & 14 1/8” LOP. Matching serial numbers are found throughout and the underside of the barrels are marked “17.1”, “65”, [crown]/”PT”/”X”, [crown]/[crossed antlers]/“STETIENNE”, “J[diamond]G”, “SF” in an oval & “RECTIFIE” surrounding an intertwined “FG” monogram. The barrels retain approximately 15% of their thinned blued finish showing even wear and the likely one French greyed breech block is mostly bright with some scattered oxidation/light surface rust. Action is in good working order, the bores appear very good with some debris and the wood stock is near good showing wear, blemished & a ½” hairline crack in the top of the wrist. Condition is near NRA Good. ***C&R Firearm***
