EARLY 1942 PRODUCTION MAUSER P.38 SEMI-AUTOMATIC
PISTOL. Cal. 9x19mm Parabellum. S# 8292. Bbl. 4 7/8". P.38 semi-automatic pistol mfg. at the Mauser arsenal in 1942. The left side of the slide is marked with the model designation "P.38" followed by Mauser's mfg. and date code "byf/ 42", and the non-suffixed S# "8292". Right side of slide exhibits an Eagle/135 acceptance proof on either side of an eagle firing proof. Metal components are blued, with the frame being mounted with 2 piece grooved pressed resin grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. Takedown lever spring plunger appears to be a replacement, being slightly too long and causing some difficulty when disassembling the pistol. MAGS: 1 8-rd P.38 mag., and 1 8-rd. Post-War P1 mag. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting edge wear, and areas of mild wear and thinning overall. Very bright bore, exhibiting light pitting and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips show a few minor marks from storage and handling, but are otherwise very good overall. (23-5436/MLW).
