EARLY 19TH CENTURY BRITISH PILLOW POMMEL SWORD.

Overall length: 30". Blade length: 25 5/8". This is an example of an early British sword for a senior NCO or a junior officer dating from 1795-1820. Single fullered blade is heavily stamped on each side w/ a crown over “GR”. Simple brass hilt featuring a lobed guard w/ drop quillon end. Knuckle bow is also plain w/ 8 facet pillow pommel at the top. Vertically reeded horn grip. No scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a dark mottled patina w/ scattered areas of light pitting. Hilt is a bit loose w/ a pleasing dark patina on all brass parts. Grip is undamaged. (02-15643/BF). $400-600.
