AND EXCAVATED BUTTON. A good example of a American militia cartridge box of the early 19th century that measures approximately 8" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". The leather box has a partial cloth belt attached with a simple iron buckle. The interior wood block has 24 holes for pre-wrapped paper cartridges. Include with the box is an excavated M1808 pewter general service button with a shank. CONDITION: box shows wear but is solid but the belt is quite rough. Button has expected wear and patina.
