EARLY 50'S VINTAGE AYA NO 1 SIDELOCK EJECTOR,
DOUBLE TRIGGER GAME GUN. Cal. 410. S# 73663. In the early 50's AYA produced some very fine guns, many of which were custom made for customers such as Elmer Keith & Col. Townsend Whelen. This nicely made sm. gauge gun has 26" chopperlump bbls. w/ slightly raised matted rib. Tops of bbls. engraved w/ maker's name & address "Canones Demi-Bloc Ezpecial. Bellota". Bbl. flats stamped w/ Spanish Nitro proofs & bottoms of bbls. w/ choke information. Coin finished, sm. sized sidelock action features automatic safety, hidden third fastener, bushed strikers, side clips, Purdy type striker vents, gold plated raised rib cocking indicators, detachable side locks in H&H style, gold plated internals & dbl. triggers (front articulated). Action engraved w/ full coverage well cut varying sized scroll w/ rose bouquets & other floral highlights. Maker's name is on bottom. Lockplates are also fully engraved in matching style w/ inner play of scroll, acanthus & flowers w/ ribbon highlights. Blued top lever & beaded trigger guard engraved w/ matching roses & scroll. S# is on grip. Well figured & somewhat streaked European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14" over reddish plastic buttplate which is skip line checkered. Stock features nicely cut point pattern checkering on diamond hand, faceted drop points & individual gold initials "HRB" inletted on toeline. Matching long splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Diameter at muzzles: Left .395 (full), Right .408 (IC). Wall thickness: Right .045. Left .042. DAH: 2 11/16". DAC: 1 5/8". Cast approx 1/4" on. WEIGHT: 5 lbs. 9 oz. CONDITION: very fine. Original. Bbls. retaining over 95% original blue w/ some high edge wear. Action retains nearly all its original coin finish w/ some discoloration due to old oil on bottom. Blued parts have a hint of silvering. Stocks retain over 95% of their original finish w/ a scattering of sm. marks & light scratches. Bores are very fine, bright & shiny. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are strong & in time.
