EARLY AMERICAN EAGLE PAINTED BASE DRUM.
A spectacular example of a paint decorated base drum likely from Vermont, featuring a lg. profile view of a spread wing American eagle atop a federal shield w/ a red ribbon that appears to read, “REGT VT, INFANTRY”. Medium blue & orange flourished decorations are located above & below the polychromatic eagle. All decoration appears on a painted white field. Rims are painted black. Drum measures approx. 18 1/2" high & 28 1/2" in diameter. CONDITION: painted finish shows significant craquelure. 1 Partial head is intact, the other is missing. Both rims are complete & undamaged. The body of the drum has one 11" drying crack & one 17" drying crack. There are no ropes or tighteners. The drum may be slightly cut down. (02-14379/BF). $400-700.
