An early designation for the fully automatic variants such as this, the Colt AR-15, Model 614 predates the M16 designation that would come to signify select fire operation while the AR-15 designation would be reserved eventually for semi automatic only variant. This example has a 20" pencil bbl. marked "FNMI MP CHROME BORE", terminated w/ 1/2X28 threads & A1 style flash hider. Protected post elevation adj. front sight on gas block w/ bayonet lug & front sling swivel. Triangular beavertail handguards w/ tapered delta ring. A1 style carry handle upper receiver w/ E1 windage adj. sight & oblong forward assist. w/ no brass deflector. Raised rib lower receiver w/ the following markings on the left side "COLT AR-15 (with horse logo) / MOD-614 / CAL.5.56 MM. / SERIAL 406375" on mag. well. Above trigger "COLT'S PATENT FIREARMS MFG. CO. / HARTFORD CONN. / U.S.A." Selector markings "SAFE-SEMI-AUTO". 4 Position collapsible plastic stock. Modern buffer & buffer spring. MAGS: 2 aluminum 30 rd. Cooper Industries/Sanchez ent.
