TRAP GUN. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 268156. Bbl. monobloc 34" is fitted with slightly raised matted ventilated rib. Bbl. flats are stamped with serial number. Boxlock type action with early wedge bolting system is engraved with 80% coverage varying size acanthus in shaded background within scroll, line and geometric borders. On sides of action, this well done engraving surrounds scene of trap shooter at traps on left and heraldic American eagle on right. Left side of action is engraved “Ithaca Gun Co” under trap shooter and “Ithaca NY” under eagle, which is surmounted by “MADE IN USA”. Blued trigger guard has more acanthus on bow and serial number on tang. Somewhat crotch figured American walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 1/2" over brown opensided pad on 1/4" hard rubber extension. Fleur-di-lis pattern checkering is at grip and a vacant gold shield is on toeline. Matching long beavertail target ejector forend with inlet ebony tip has pushbutton release. MEASUREMENTS: BBL: Bore Diameter: .731". Restriction: .033" (FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: .038". STOCK: DAH: 2". DAC: 1 1/2". LOP: 14 1/2". CAST: neutral. WEIGHT: 8 lb. 6 oz. CONDITION: very good to fine, bbl. retaining about 70% original blue with some sharp edgewear and some scattered freckling. Action retains most of its original case hardening color, faded to silver and gray around bottom. Trigger guard retains about 20% original blue. Stocks retain most of an old oil refinish with a few light marks. Checkering is considerably worn. Newer pad does not fit well. Bore is bright and shiny. Mechanically good, ejector is strong.
