DRISBACH. Cal. 60. 44" Long rifled full oct. bbl. NSN. Bbl. is signed John Drisbach in script & flint lock is signed Cappall & Co. in script. Drisbach produced some of the areas finest rifles having been assessed as a gunsmith as early as 1789 through to 1829. 8 Inlays on the forestock surrounding the bbl. wedges. 4 Piece engraved brass patch box features the previous owner's engraved initials The buttstock is very nicely incise carved forward & rear of the cheekpiece. The rifle is also incise carved around the bbl. tang & ramrod entrance ferrule. CONDITION: there is 2 3/4" X 1/2" wood repair above the forward part of the lock & evidence of old repairs to the wood between the hammer & bbl. tang. Close inspection will show the rear 2 bbl. wedges were moved forward about an inch. PROVENANCE: Collection of Dr. John Persing. (01-19566/RG). ANTIQUE. $8,000-12,000.
