Cal. 30-06. S# 507893. Bbl. 24", marked "S-A-3-42". Throat Ga. is 1.5. Muzzle Ga. is 6.0. Bore has strong lands but turning back in the grooves. Aperture rear sight w/ "battle range" elevation knob. Locking bar, windage knob. Blade front sight w/ protective ears. All visible parts markings are "SA". Single slot gas cyl. lock screw. Milled trigger guard. Leather sling marked "BOYT 44". Walnut stock set. Buttstock marked w/ boxed "SA GHS" & "crossed cannons", circled "P" proof under grip. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 9 1/2" fullered blade model 1905 E1 bayonet which was a shortened model 1942. Marked on left ricasso "U.F.H. US FLAMING BOMB 1943". Right ricasso marked "UFH". Ribbed composite handle. Plastic scabbard w/ metal throat marked w/ "flaming bomb". Bayonet shows coarse grinding marks from being sharpened on the edge & false edge. Has worn finish. Grips have wear & handling marks. Scabbard has worn finish w/ scattered oxidation. Also contains unmarked 1950s era blank firing attachment which replaces gas cyl. lock. CONDITION: stock set has nice appearing original finish w/ staining & scattered handling marks. Left side of stock below action has been stamped w/ several faint "W"s & has long (10") scratch. Rear handguard has notable missing chips on left side. Metal has 90% arsenal rework type parkerization. Rifle has moderately worn lands turning dark in grooves. (21-3731/RW). CURIO. $1,200-1,800.
