EGYPTIAN HAKIM RIFLE.

Cal. 8mm Mauser. S# 3784. Bbl. 24". The Hakim rifle is a copy of the Swedish AG-42b, developed w/ the help of Swedish engineers. Primarily mfg. in the Maadi factory, the US saw a rise in imports during the 1980s. Chambered in the popular & effective 8mm Mauser, several have been sporterized for use in medium & big game hunting. The Hakim utilizes a unique method of bolt operation where the dust cover must be pushed forward over the ejection port to pick up the bolt before travelling rearward. Although these rifles feed from a 10-rd. detachable mag., there is still a stripper clip guide present above the mag. well. Bbl. is terminated w/ the correct, interesting muzzle brake, also acting as host to a hooded blade front sight. Rear tangent sight graduated to 1,000m w/ a sight radius of 21 1/2". Exposed metal surfaces still wear a dark matte bluing. Hardwood stock w/ leather sling. MAGS: 1-10 rd. factory. CONDITION: original finish is complete & consistent, retaining coverage in most areas w/ thinning on high spots & in areas of mechanical intervention. Stocks employ multiple depressions, scratches & perhaps some intentional “X” marks on right side. Right side of stock has 1" circular void, 2" from buttplate where it appears there was an earlier medallion. Steel buttplate still intact, however; it sits proud of the stock at 12 o’clock. Bore is dark but retains strong rifling. Fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. PROVENANCE: From the estate collection of Charles P. Obremski. (22-1368/JZ). CURIO. $400-600.
