TRIALS PISTOL. Cal. 32 S&W. S# 45. Bbl. 3 3/4". Joseph Reifgraber designed 2 automatic pistols for U.S. military consideration. The most frequently encountered, though incredibly rare in its own right, is the Model 1910, made by the Union Firearms Company of Toledo, OH. According to E. Scott Meadows in his book "U.S. Military Automatic Pistols, 1894-1920" approx. 100 were made with the highest recorded S# "88". This standard production internal hammer single action pistol has a fixed front sight and a grooved rear sight. The top of the frame is marked with the S# "45". The left side of the frame is marked "UNION FIRE ARMS CO./ TOLEDO O. REIFGRABER PATENT". The right side of the frame, references the caliber; "S&W 32 CAL". Fitted with black hard rubber grips. Bottom release mag. with 8-indicator holes, a slotted spine, and a fixed floorplate. MAGS: 1 9-rd. mag. CONDITION: good original condition, with approx. 50% finish, the balance either worn or toning to brown. Comparable condition fire blued bolt as viewed in the ejection port. VG+ grips. Mag. in same general condition as pistol. Bright bore, oxidation, shallow rifling. Correct manual mechanics. A rare U.S. military trials/developmental pistol, seldom offered for sale. (25-3539/LMA).
