Cal. 44. S# 185. Bbl. 7 1/2" rnd. Standard configuration. Inset round blade front sight, solid frame, top strap: "FREEMAN'S PAT. DEC 9, 1862 / HOARD'S ARMORY WATERTOWN NY”. Unique spring-loaded cyl. quick release. Loading assembly attached to bbl. lug. 2-pc walnut grip. This is probably the highest quality army revolver not to have received government contract & only privately sold during war, made 1863-1864. CONDITION: excellent overall. bbl. & cyl. retain about 85-90% bright blue w/ most losses on grip strap & trigger bow. Frame, hammer & loading assembly retain most of their fading case colors.
