EXCEPTIONALLY FINE MATCHED PAIR OF GOLD NAME

WESTLEY RICHARDS SIDELOCK EJECTOR SELF OPENING DOUBLE TRIGGER GAMEGUNS WITH HAND DETACHABLE LOCKS. Cal. 12 Ga. 2 3/4". S# 19349 & 19350 (1970 as listed in "British Gunmakers Vol. 2" by Nigel Brown). This lovely pair of guns was made for Westley Richards by A. Brown & Sons who had their workshop next door to Westley Richards in Birmingham & made many high grade sidelock guns for Wesley Richards & others throughout the 60s & 70s. The guns have 28" chopperlump bbls. engraved "Westley Richards & Co., Birmingham. England" on very narrow, slightly raised game ribs. Guns are a true pair as denoted by the numbers "1" & "2" gold inlaid at rear portions of ribs, top levers & forend tips. There are 1" triangles of well cut scroll on breech ends of bbls. Bbl. flats are stamped with 1969 Birmingham nitro proofs for 2 3/4" chambers. Bottoms of bbls. are stamped with serial numbers. H&H type self opening assist springs are fitted. Case hardened sidelock actions are of Holland & Holland pattern & feature automatic safeties, bushed strikers, gold line tumbler end cocking indicators, hand detachable locks & double triggers (fronts articulated). Water tables & breech faces are damascened & Brown brothers "ABAS" stamps can be seen in rear lump wells. Locks are by Chilton, & engine turned interiors are also stamped "ABAS". Actions are very nicely filed. Engraving consists of near full coverage varying size well cut shaded scroll within scroll borders which surrounds classic rose bouqets. "WESTLEY RICHARDS" in gold is on scrolled ribbon on each lockplate. Blued top lever & beaded trigger guard are engraved with matching scroll. Serial numbers are on short tangs. Very well matched straight grip buttstocks of well streaked & lightly figured European walnut measure 14 13/16" over checkered wood butts. Stocks also feature nicely shaped drop points, point pattern checkering with mullered borders on semi diamond hands & rectangular gold crestplates with arched sides on toelines. Matching long splinter Southgate ejector forends have Anson releases. MEASUREMENTS (Gun #1): BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .730", L .730". Restriction: R .018" (MOD), L .033" (FULL). Min.
