MAUSER "BYF" CODE "42" DATE "BLACK WIDOW" P.08 LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH ACCESSORIES. Cal. 9mm Luger. S# 9k. Bbl. 4". Extremely low "k" block P.08 "Black Widow" Luger mfg. by Mauser in 1942. The bbl. extension is marked "42" over the chamber, with Mauser Eagle/135 waffenamts and an Eagle firing proof stamped on the right. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "byf" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered black plastic grips, with the mag. bottom also being comprised of black plastic. All numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety bar & lever, bbl., bbl. extension, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, and rear toggle pin. Hold-open latch is numbered "09", possibly being an arsenal error or a replacement. MAGS: 2 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leatherette box embossed with a medallion of an eagle atop a German WWII party symbol and marked "Kriegs-Erinnerungen" on the lid. Case contains 1 spare mag., 1 loading tool, a cut portion of what appears to be a small party symbol banner, as well as a manual in German. CONDITION: very good to excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting a few small concentrated spots of light to mild wear, and exhibiting a few spots of light surface oxidation and pitting overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting some light pitting along the edges of the lands, and retaining well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing and some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. Box shows moderate exterior wear, exhibiting some losses and fraying to the exterior overall. Lid is taped to the box body. A very nice example of a single digit S# Mauser "Black Widow" P.08 Luger.
