VARIATION COLT 3RD MODEL DERRINGER. Cal. 41. S# 17793. Housed in purple velvet & silk lined Pall Mall London agent marked casing. Pistol has no British proofs but fits English leather veneered case w/ 3 original cartridges. Derringer is in standard configuration of 4th variations as defined by Doug Eberhart in his most recent text on Colt Derringers. 2.5” Round bbl., half round front sight, large slanted “COLT”, nickel, deluxe class C factory engraving, blued trigger & screws, case colored hammer, & varnished light wood grips. Engraved, deluxe 3rd model Colt derringers are very scarce & high conditioned ones are very rare. CONDITION: near excellent, appears like new & unfired. Retains virtually all original nickel & most original blue to trigger & screws. Hammer retains most of its original dark case colors. Grips retain virtually all their original bright factory varnish w/ light edge wear. Mechanically fine w/ bright shiny rifled bore. Casing is also fine overall, light scuffing to cover, vacant rectangular German silver plaque, accompanying cartridges are fine also. (01-18842/JS). ANTIQUE. $6,000-8,000.
