The left side of the slide is marked "P.38", followed by Mauser's late mfg. code and the 2-digit year of mfg. "svw/ 45", and the S#, with the right side exhibiting an Eagle/WaA135" acceptance proof on either side of an eagle firing proof. No French or import markings are present. Metal components exhibit a phosphate finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved black Polymid 6 grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, slide, bbl., and locking block. MAGS: 2 8-rd. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: extremely scarce black laminated paper holster with a brown pebble grain leather belt loop, containing 1 rare early production serialized (8033a) Walther mag. CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original arsenal phosphate finish, exhibiting some light to mild edge wear, with some wear and thinning present on the grip strap and rear frame tang. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting some spots of hardened grease and retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some scattered marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. The rear of the holster exhibits a tear along the bottom of the leather belt loop. A very nice example of an extremely late war production Mauser P.38, paired with an extremely scarce holster variation, and a rare early production Walther mag. PROVENANCE: the collection of Curtis H. Halvorson. (23-5853/MLW). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
