EXTREMELY RARE HIGH STANDARD O.S.S. SILENCED PISTOL.

Cal. 22lr. S# 128611 (Pistol & suppressor) Bbl.8". Since the May 1, 1960 Soviet downing of US CIA pilot Francis Gary Powers, from his U-2 high altitude reconnaissance jet while flying deep in Russian territory over the Ural Mountains, the CIA "Secret spy pistol" has no longer been a secret. When the Soviets found it in his cockpit survival case they convicted him of espionage. The High Standard HD w/ integral suppressor has been an item of lore for a very long time, eventually covered in books including "OSS Special Weapons & Equipment - Spy Devices of WWII" by H. Keith Melton, and more recently, on the world wide web. This is an absolutely amazing find. Pistol is a High Standard Model HD, parkerized in finish. Right side of frame marked " PROPERTY OF U.S." above flaming bomb ordnance stamp, just rear of barrel. Suppressor measures 8" & stamped at 6 O'clock; "AVS AHF INC FAYETTEVILLE, NC / MODEL HDM CAL 22 SN 128611". Suppressor serial number matches pistol, which weighs in at 2# 13oz unloaded. Left side of receiver stamped; "MADE IN U.S.A. / THE HIGH STANDARD MFG CO. / NEW HAVEN CONN / PATENT PENDING / .22 CAL / LONG RIFLE". Pistol receiver is marked w/ serial number on front side of pistol grip. Low profile front blade sight w/ drift adjustable rear sight. External hammer w/ serrated hammer spur. Thumb safety on left side. Mag release located on bottom of pistol grip. MAGS:1 steel 10 rd. CONDITION: Matte parkerized finish is complete & consistent w/ full coverage. The only sign of prior use is some spotting, primarily on the left side, such as that typically earned in a horizontal display, or in a display case for long periods of time. Weight, within an ounce of that published in early "Restricted" documentation" indicates it hasn't been used to any extent as leading in .22 rimfire ammo can often build up over time, especially in these early, ported barrel baffle designs.. NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT SUPPRESSOR REQUIRING BATF TRANSFER BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. FULLY TRANSFERABLE. (03-1621 / 23-992/JZ). CURIO CLASS III. $18,000-28,000.
