EXTREMELY RARE SPRINGFIELD US MODEL 1930
INTERNATIONAL MATCH SWISS TYPE TARGET STOCK W/ 1928 MFG. RECEIVER. Receiver has S# 1332826. Receiver has gas escape hole on right side. Does not have "Hatcher hole". Marked on bottom behind recoil lug "C&R" "NS" & partially legible marking which includes a "B 24" & separate "U" shaped mark. Standard dbl. pull narrow smooth trigger. Sear is marked w/ "S". Trigger is marked on left side w/ "R". Mag. cutoff w/ serif letters. Bolt body is marked underneath bolt handle w/ punch proof mark & marking resembling partial ampersand. Marking underneath safety lug appears to be "J". Extractor has gas escape hole & is in the white. Bolt shroud & safety marked "R". Late construction unmarked cocking piece w/ hole. Guard screws are present. One piece walnut Swiss Schuetzen style target stock. Buttplate is not present, but attaching bolt & cross pin are present. Standard military type butt swivel. Forend has dovetailed adj. sliding rail finished in the white. Stock has the same features as pictured on page 135 in "The Springfield 1903 Rifles by Brophy". Thumb rest has stippling. CONDITION: stock has original finish w/ light wear, staining & scattered handling marks. Stock inletting has the appearance of use. 1" Crack on left side extending forward from buttplate. Notable chip on lower edge of cheek piece. Sm. crack & missing chip on right side of forend tip. Metal work retains lg. percentage of dark arsenal rework parkerizing w/ lightly worn receiver rails & scattered sm. handling marks. Receiver threads do not have appearance of bbl. being fitted.
