WINCHESTER RIFLE. Cal. 7mm WSM. S# G368687. The 25 1/2" lightweight bbl. with muzzle brake is marked with caliber at left rear. Model 70 classic action with controlled feed has had dovetailed tipoff type scope bases tastefully installed. Bolt with straightened handle has had knob checkered in five panels. Original trigger has been retained. Blackburn type steel bottom metal has hinged floorplate with release button in trigger guard bow. Finely crafted stock of strikingly marbled and nicely figured thin shell walnut measures 14" over checkered steel Niedner type buttplate. Stock features ebony forend tip with widow's peak, steel gripcap, swept right hand shadowline cheekpiece, right hand palm swell and sling eyes set into oval steel escutcheons on toeline and forend. Checkering, typical of Bollinger's work, is of very fancy pattern with stylized fleur-di-lis and many ribbons through wraparound patterns at grip and forend. Quality of all work in wood and metal is very fine, though no maker's name is visible on inside or out. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: rifle is accompanied by letter from John Bollinger (Mountain Riflery) stating that he was the creator of this fine rifle as a custom order and states serial number, action and Krieger match grade bbl. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 6 oz. CONDITION: exceptionally fine, appears close to new with only a few minor handling and assembly marks in all surfaces. The fine rust blued finish has two or three minor scratches on left side of bbl. in front of forend tip. Bore is bright and shiny. Mechanically smooth. (22-5232/MGM). MODERN. $4,500-6,500.
