Early 18th Century Middle Eastern Matchlock Rifle, possibly Persian in origin, 43-3/4'' barrel, 64'' overall, barrel held in place by three wire-wrapped bands, stock is fully covered in mother of pearl inlays, with a rather crude wood buttplate and steel ramrod. Condition is good for its age. Barrel with an overall dark patina, as well as light surface rust and corrosion overall that would improve with a thorough cleaning. Wire wrapping with some verdigris present. Mother of pearl with small chips and cracks that you would expect on a rifle of this age, and only a few small pieces missing near tip and near a crack to the forend approx. 18'' from muzzle.
