Early Custom Winchester Model 52 Bolt Action Target Rifle, #14163, .22 LR cal., 28" barrel, blue finish; checkered walnut custom one-piece pistol grip stock with an exaggerated beavertail forend, barrel band, sling swivels, and oversized checkered steel buttplate; providing a 13.5" LOP. Rifle features a dovetailed blade front sight, adjustable ladder style rear sight, two target blocks along the barrel, and includes two (2) 5-round Winchester detachable blued steel magazine. Factory markings are clear, with Winchester "WP" proofs on the left side of the barrel and receiver. Rifle is topped with rings and a Lyman Target Spot 15x rifle scope with an adjustable objective, finished in gloss black, with screw on metal lens covers, and fine crosshair reticle. Scope shows general age and wear, with scratches and loss of finish on the front bell. Optics are clear. Mfg'd 1927. Rifle is in near fine overall condition, retaining approx. 85% thinning finish, with wear at the muzzle, scattered scratches and handling marks. Receiver displays considerable finish, showing edge wear, and an open pair of drilled and tapped holes on the left side from an old receiver sight. Trigger guard shows thinning and light brown patina. Stock is in very good condition, with general indentations and handling marks. The custom checkering is impressive and remains fine. Action functions well. Bore is bright with well-defined rifling. Est.: $700-$900. (C&R)
