Early Gas Port Example Springfield M1 Garand, #75744, .30-06 cal., 24'' barrel marked ''S-A 9-40'', parkerized finish, walnut stock with early large Ordnance wheel SA/GHS cartouche and trap in butt, correctly restored with early parts. Includes correct flush nut rear sight. Keystone recoil spring is a modern reproduction. Formerly in the James E. ''Mac'' McCollum collection, with letter from Scott A. Duff. Condition is very good retaining approx. 80%-85% thinning parkerized finish to metal surfaces. Op rod appears to have been refinished at one point. Stock with moderate scuffs, bruises, oil darkening and minor losses. Action remains crisp, bore is fine. Est.: $2,500-$3,500. (C&R)
